WORLD FIRST CLASS SPECIAL ASSISTANCE LOUNGE IN DUBAI AIRPORT and it's FREE

When looking at the above photo, you might not believe if we told you that it is a beautiful 1st Class Lounge for Special Assistance at Dubai Airport and it's FREE. Oh! yes. Elderly, disabled people, etc does get this special treatment from Dubai Airport. We only knew about this recently during our trip to Switzerland, we have to transit at Dubai for about 4 hours. It was a long 7 hours flight from Malaysia + 4 hours transit at Dubai and another 7 hours flight to Switzerland. For a group of family who's travelling with a 80 years old grandmother, we are really grateful for receiving this special treatment from Dubai Airport.

The Special Assistance Lounge is located at Terminal A building. Very close to our gate. But, I'm not sure whether each terminal has its own lounge or not.

Our Emirate flight drop us at terminal C and we have walk quite far to terminal A. It was a very big airport. Luckily for our grandmother, the airport has provided an assistant and a wheel chair to assist her. The wheel chair was so unique in design. It's very comfortable and has a space beneath it which can fit 1 cabin luggage. 

 

The Special Assistance Lounge was not only provided for our grandmother, but the whole family got to enjoy this privilege.  

 

How to Enter this Special Assistance  Lounge? 

Well, it's the same process all around the world. For your information, every airport provided special assistance but as far as we know only Dubai Airport provided a Lounge for Special Assistance. If you or anyone else travelling with you are elderly / disabled people / someone using wheel chair, etc you should inform this during check in or when you buy the flight ticket. 

They'll ask you a few question whether that person can climb up stairs / can walk in a short distance, etc. Please be reminded that if the person that required special assistance required wheel chair the whole time, just declare it to the counter. If not, they'll assume that person can walk but not for a long distance. 

It was a mistake on our side (during our flight back to Malaysia) when the check in counter asked us whether our grandmother can walk in a short distance and we answered yes. During our flight to Switzerland, the person assisting our grand mother assist her the whole time with a wheel chair (directly from airplane door). But, during our flight back to Malaysia, she had to walk quite a distance before she could get her wheel chair. We are not the only one who's facing this problem, an elderly from Switzerland was also having the same problem and she was so disappointed. 

Any way, once you done reporting to the flight that you are travelling with someone who required wheel chair, the airport can provide you with a wheel chair for you to use around the airport. The airport can also provide an assistant to help if you wish to. We highly recommend for you to accept the offer of having an assistant. The assistant will not only come with a wheel chair and assist our grandmother; but they will usually assist the whole family. If you are lucky enough, you'll get to enter a special route which is faster than the other travelers. 

Once the flight has landed, we quickly get ready with our grandmother's boarding pass and passport. The special assistant will be waiting outside the door flight and they'll need to check the boarding pass. Once the boarding pass has been approved, they'll help us get through the immigration counter and customs checking easily. 

After that, they'll brought us to the Special Assistance Lounge. If you are more lucky, they'll sometime provide you with a buggy. 

We just need to have a simple registration at the counter and then we can enjoy all the facilities provided in the Special Assistance Lounge.

Costa Coffee accepted international currency (paper money only). Currency such as USD, Pound, Dirham, Euro, etc. Just rest assure, all food here are halal. You should try the extra cheese toast. Yummy!

We spend a very good time here. Such long flight does made us tired and our body sore. 

There are so many comfy sofas you can choose from. So many people can accommodate this space. 

See, there are TVs. So you won't get bored. But, you can also use the FREE Wifi. This is the time to contact family. Not to forget to update our Instagram status. Hehe. 

This is the prayer room. Female and Male each has their own space.

Sejadah, Telekung, Al-Quran, chair, etc all has been provided. 

You can always check your flight schedule at the screens. Don't worry. The counter will call your name when the time comes. 

There are many toilets for disabled provided. There even have normal toilets for the family. 

We can enjoy the sky view and airport scenery from this lounge. 

Hey, our flight is ready. We can see directly from this lounge. Okay, gotta go. Hope this entry can some how help you in the future. If you are feeling worried to travel with elderly / disabled person, please don't be. The airport can surely help you.
