MOST BEAUTIFUL SUNSET PHOTOS CAPTURED AT SECRET VIEWING POINTS IN KUNDASANG, SABAH (MALAYSIA)

A few months ago, we have travelled to Kota Kinabalu Sabah. From Kota Kinabalu we drove for a few hours to Kundasang. This is the place where you can visit / climb the famous Mount Kinabalu. However, in this post we are not gonna talk about the Mount Kinabalu but we wanna share our best shots of sunset in Kundasang. No filter, no editing.

We often get these questions after sharing some of our best photos;

1.) Hey, Le Barisha what camera did you use?
2.) What apps / software did you use?
3.) I don't have powerful camera like you have, how can I take good photos like you did?
4.) And the questions goes on.... Bla bla bla...

The truth is, we didn't own any DSLR or any powerful camera. We only used our phone camera. People sound surprise every time we tell them about this. It's not a secret though as we have been telling this so many times before. If you have been following us since the beginning you should be able to read about the secret to get beautiful photos with your phone.

Normally we take photos with the old Samsung Note 3 phone camera. But sometimes, we do use I Phone 7+ if the surrounding lighting is poor. You must study the ability of your phone camera. For example, Samsung Note 3 camera is not powerful like any other latest phone edition, however, if you get that perfect lighting, it still can capture beautiful shots. If our old phone can do it, so can yours.

The only secret of getting good shots are to ensure you have good lighting, best angle, and good photo composition. Having gorgeous background is a plus.

Always get ready with your camera, you'll never know when you'll come across any good spot to take photos.

The truth is we didn't plan on capturing sunset photos in Kundasang. It just happen that when we arrived there, luckily it was near sunset and the sky turns gorgeous. It was golden and having some turquoise color in between. We drove around Kundasang searching for the perfect spot to capture sunset photos. Phone always on stand by mode. Whenever we came across good location we'll quickly snap a few shots.

Surprisingly, we found out that the best sunset view points are not facing Mount Kinabalu but instead it was the opposite of the mountain.

We drove around 2-5km from the main entrance of Kundasang, which road goes towards Kota Kinabalu. We stopped our car at the road side. Looking at a huge valley full of mountains which the opposite view of Mount Kinabalu.

Our secret viewing point is located near a small hotel before reaching Kundasang main entrance which have a small stall selling Durian near by. Hehehe... There are not many Durian stall there so it's not that difficult to search for our secret viewing point. However, the stall always close early before sunset, so you might need to search for this spot earlier on.

Oh! Please get here before sunset as the best moment to capture good sunset photo is just a few minutes before the sun goes down. Please remember that even though the time in Sabah is similar to Peninsular Malaysia, however, the sun comes out and goes down around 1-2 hours ealier than Peninsular Malaysia. The prayer times are also slightly differ.

Besides sunset, here you can also take good photos of the landscape, farms, flora, fauna, and many more.

Did you know that you can also capture your own sillhoute during the sunset? We love doing so.

All you need to do is to stand in between the sun location and just choose a good angle to snap your photos.

You can be playful with your sillhoute photos. No one is gonna see your face so you don't have to worry. This is the best time to get crazy.

Even our friends can't stop posing with their sillhoute photos.

Just be playful. Sometimes pretending to be a super hero is fun too. Hehe...

Don't forget to take the unique terraces garden photos. There are so many beautiful shots you can capture here.

We kept on taking photos until the sun goes down, and the weather getting cold. Above is the last shot of sunset that we are able to get. You can already see just from the photo how cold the weather was. We kinda like this photo, we believe you can have the feel of the real condition by just looking at it. Cool, huh?

Now you know our secret sunset viewing points in Kundasang, you can always come here to capture your own sunset photos. Pssssttt....Please keep this a secret between us okay... 😉

Love;
Le BARISHA
